Sprint Nextel's efforts to shut down its iDEN network could cause its partner Clearwire to lose some of its own mobile WiMAX sites, Fierce Wireless reports, citing a regulatory filing. Clearwire has mobile WiMAX equipment co-located on some of Sprint's iDEN sites, including an unspecified number of sites that are slated for decommissioning. In a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Clearwire admitted ‘It is not likely that we would continue to operate our equipment at the current location once Sprint decommissions its sites’.
