Umniah sets start date for 3G service

Umniah, has announced plans to launch 3G services by September this year, reports the Jordan Times, citing the company’s CEO, Ihab Hinnawi. As reported yesterday in CommsUpdate, the Bahrain-backed cellco paid the JOD50 million (USD70.3 million) fee for its concession earlier this month, while its parent Batelco predicted it could be ready to offer 3G commercially 'in the first half of the year'. It has set aside a further JOD50 million to roll out the new network.
