The Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mohamed Salem, has reportedly indicated that the country will launch a tender for mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) concessions within the next month, Reuters reports. ‘We are finalising the format for the MVNO and hopefully we should expect (to issue the tender) in four weeks' time,’ Mr Salem was cited as saying. It remains unclear, however, as to how many virtual operator licences the government is likely to make available, while the minister also declined to comment regarding pricing for the concessions, or indeed the money expected to be raised for the government by the auction process as a whole
