South Korea’s smallest mobile network operator by subscribers, LG Uplus, has said that it expects to launch voice-over-Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) services later this year, the Korea Herald reports. LG Uplus vice-president Choi Taek-jin was cited as confirming such plans, noting: ‘We are aiming to provide the VoLTE service starting in October after completing the nationwide LTE network by March’. The executive also confirmed that LG Uplus is considering providing VoLTE functionality via all LTE-based devices starting next year.
