Ericsson inks deal to upgrade Vodafone Egypt’s network

Sweden’s Ericsson has revealed that it has been selected to transform the network of Egyptian mobile network operator Vodafone Egypt. According to a press release issued by the vendor, Ericsson will deploy its latest RBS 6000 technology across Vodafone Egypt's network, offering an energy-efficient, compact site solution that supports GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/HSPA and Long Term Evolution (LTE) in a single package. It is claimed that, as a multi-standard base station, the RBS 6000 will allow Vodafone Egypt a smooth transition to new technologies in the future, while also minimising operational expenses and reducing the company’s environmental impact
