Belarusian state-owned fixed line and broadband operator Beltelecom has selected Chinese equipment manufacturer Huawei Technologies to deploy the commercial 100G WDM network in the country. The new WDM network will employ so-called ‘optical coherent detection’ technology and will span 1,200km, transiting Belarus via a link from Grodno (Polish border) to Vitebsk (Russian border). Last November TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate reported that Huawei launched a trial of 100G transmission services on Beltelecom’s live WDM national backbone network over the Grodno-Vitebsk route
