Softbank contracts NSN for LTE rollout and HSPA+ expansion

The Japanese cellular operator Softbank Mobile has awarded a contract to Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to supply, deploy and integrate its 4G FDD-LTE (Frequency Division Duplex – Long Term Evolution) network. Under a separate contract, NSN will also expand Softbank’s HSPA+ 3.5G network to enable new services using the recently allocated 900MHz frequency band. NSN will deploy its Flexi Multiradio Base Station for both the FDD-LTE network and the HSPA+ network expansion.
