Brazilian telecoms operator TIM Participacoes (TIM Brasil’s) new ultra-high speed residential broadband service TIM Fiber will be launched commercially in the third quarter of this year, according to its CEO Luca Luciani speaking at a press conference to discuss the group’s latest financial results. The TIM official says that rollout of commercial services will begin in the city of Sao Paulo, followed by Rio de Janeiro, and that his company has already connected 1,100 buildings in the two cities – out of a total 3,600 authorisations currently in place. Luciani went on to say that initial tests of the technology look ‘promising’, with TIM Brasil hopeful of delivering its customers with internet access at speeds of between 50Mbps and the 100Mbps
