Germany’s Kabel Deutschland says it has become the first cable operator in the world to successfully achieve a download speed of 4.7Gbps in a field test via the cable network. According to a company press release, the tests took place at a school in the city of Schwerin over an 862MHz upgraded cable network. They were carried out in co-operation with technology firm ARRIS, which supplied a head-end using a standard commercial EuroDOCSIS 3.0-based ARRIS C4 CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) and twelve Touchstone CM820S cable modems
